On February 15, 2010, I sat in a cab while it made its way through a traffic-clogged Kolkata to the office of Bimal Pramanik director of the Kolkata-based Centre for Research in Indo-Bangladesh Relations. Pramanik expressed serious concerns about the decades-long pattern of demographic changes in West Bengal (and Assam), and we discussed the context in which we can better understand them. Amitabh Tripathi, founder of the South Asia forum and a tireless activist in the fight against radical Islam, arranged the meeting and was a key participant in it. Read more

For over thirty years, Islamist radicals have been engaging in a systematic program of ethnic cleansing in Bangladesh. When they began, Hindus accounted for somewhat less than one in five Bangladeshis; today they are fewer that one in ten. Professor Sachi Dastidar of SUNY has estimated that the number of “lost” Hindus (that is, those murdered and those never born as a result of the ethnic cleansing) could total as many as 35 million!
Nor is it only the radicals who are culpable. The first partner in crime is the succession of governments in Bangladesh. It did not matter if they were right of center, left of center, a dictatorship, civilian or military. Every one of them maintained a blatantly racist act that has been a cornerstone in the Islamist plan: The Vested Property Act (VPA). Read more
Toronto mosque offers ‘detox’ for Islamic radicals

In what is likely the first of its kind in Canada, a Toronto mosque is offering a “detox” program for young Islamic radicals who are sympathetic to the terrorist group al Qaeda.
Muhammed Robert Heft, a team member of the Specialized De-radicalization Intervention program, says the program is based on the idea that Islamic extremism can be fought by incorporating traditional teachings of the Qur’an into a “12-step Extremist Detox Program.”
Among the steps in the program offered at Toronto’s Masjid El Noor mosque:
Finding common ground, “not fighting ground,” with other faiths
In the “Open society of Canada,” how to reconcile “dogmatic idealism with pragmatic realism”
Seeing the whole as one, and take into account “global challenges that affect us all.”
Actively countering extremist ideology through “education, public speaking and writing.”
“As Canadians of Muslim faith, it is our ardent desire to become leaders in the championing of anti-terror values,” says a document explaining the program.
Heft told CTV Newsnet’s Power Play on Wednesday that among the young radical Islamic followers the mosque is hoping to counsel are members of the notorious “Toronto 18.” In 2006, a series of counter-terrorism raids in the Greater Toronto Area resulted in the arrest of 18 alleged members of a purported Islamic terrorist cell plotting a variety of attacks against targets in Ontario.
That case, along with that of Ottawa’s Momin Khawaja who was convicted for his role in a British terror cell, have raised concerns about home-grown terrorism.

It is always difficult to write a piece on any personality as it is always pregnant with some controversy whether your intentions are good or bad. I was also in this dilemma before writing this article as this is going to address a personality whom some body love to hate and somebody as myself is one of them term him as one of signatures of this era. Lot has been written about him in European and American press but still he is not hot topic is Asian press. He is an authority on Middle Eastern politics as well politics on Islam. He has been termed by his critics as Islamophobe for his views on radical Islam. His website is one of the busiest websites in English language with thousands of keywords and one of the best platform for discussions on radical Islam and other topics which are usually don’t come out in open because of political correctness. I hope these are enough indications to reach the destination which goes to Dr Daniel Pipes. Dr Daniel Pipes is going to enter in almost his sixties next week on 9th September with completion of 58 years of his glorious life. Read more
